We recently installed the newly improved GTS Style Aluminum Hood from Suvneer on my friend’s F30 330i. This redesigned hood is half of the weight of the OEM metal hood by BMW and fits extremely well.
You can pick one of these hoods up here:
Installing the hood and getting the proper fitment is actually quite easy. You will want another person to help you with this.
Here are the tools we will use:
13mm Socket - Buy Here
Impact Drill - Buy Here
T27 Torx - Buy Here
T25 Torx - Buy Here
10mm Socket - Buy Here
Pick Tool -
First step, remove all of the plastic from the OEM hood including the latching hooks and windshield washer nozzles, etc. The latches simply unscrew, the windshield washer nozzles have two small clips, the rubber plugs pop right out and the hood stops have two smaller plugs that need to be popped out (Use pick tool) Once everything us removed, take out the 4 13mm screws on the hood hinges and remove the hood.
Time to throw on the new hood. Line the 13mm bolts up but do not tighten them down all of the way. Just snug enough. You will be loosening and tightening these a few times as you readjust. Now is a good time to reinstall all of the plastic pieces, hood latches, etc. Once you have all of the components on the new hood, close the hood and see where you are at with fitment. You will most likely need to adjust the two fenders and the front bumper.
It will take some time to get the fitment just right, it took us about 30min of micro adjustments until we dialed it in. Its not too difficult, just don’t rush the process.
