Replacing the rear diffuser on the Msport F30 Rear Bumper is necessary to tie in with all of the other carbon goodies we have going on. This was one the pieces that I added last to my car but It made a big difference in the rear presence. In addition to the piece being carbon fiber, it also has aggressive fins that hang down in the middle, overall it looks really cool!

You can purchase this rear diffuser HERE.

Overall, the job is quite easy.

Here are the tools we will need:

First step, we need to remove the factory diffuser. It is held in by a series of 8mm screws on each side and a series of clips in the center. Start on the exhaust side and pry your way across.

You will have to drill out a few holes on your new diffuser. You’ll notice the carbon is dimpled in some places on the tabs. Take a look at your stock diffuser and this will give you an idea of where you will need to drill.

Go ahead and use a small drill bit, one large enough for the 8mm screws to fit through.

Go ahead and reinstall your new diffuser, this will take some bending and force to get it to fit right.

  • Important note: Carbon diffusers are RARELY perfect. The bumper has a slight curve to it and carbon does not flex well. Generally, you just have to do your best to make it fit well. Most carbon takes some modification and time to get close to perfect, but in my experience..no carbon is ever perfect. If you expect perfect, stick with oem.

Once you get it close to as good as possible, throw in your 8mm screws and you are good to go!

This diffuser really tied all of my carbon bits together on the car. Matched with my front lip, rear spoiler and side skirt extensions it just looked fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
